The dial features 18K gold hour markers set with 32 diamonds and 18K gold Roman numerals VI and IX set with 24 diamonds. The dial is carnelian, an orange-red decorative stone with a variety of artistic shapes and markings.

Later, the triangular pits evolved into an aesthetic design element that has become a signature of Rolex.
